Those ensembles known currently to be active have their frequencies shown in bold. Ensembles believed still to be pending are shown in normal type.

Broadcasters will often increase the bit rate of services for the transmission of an important or prestigious event, and similarly decrease the bit rates in order to accomodate additional services. Where more than one bit rate is shown the occasional value is the one given in brackets.

The graphics are "snapshots" of the status of an ensemble at a particular moment in time. Some ensembles are fairly static and their arrangement will change only rarely. Others are more dynamic, changing several times daily.

The Mode Indicator illuminates to indicate the ensemble transmission mode. If the transmission mode is not known, the indicator will be off or not present.

The TII indicator illuminates when an ensemble has been observed or is known to be transmitting the Transmitter Identification Information. Where an ensemble has been observed not to radiate TII codes, the indicator will be off. If the indicator is not shown, no information has been received or no observations have been made to determine the presence or otherwise of TII codes.

The figures in the snapshots correspond to the Protection Levels of the services where known.

Different fonts are used for those fields which represent the actual text content of Service Labels observed or reported, e.g. R-WIEN * DAB, and those listings where the the entry is based on other data or is the name of a Service which may or may not correspond exactly with the Service Label, e.g. P4 København.

It is a convention in computer literature and on other DAB sites to represent a space, " ", as an underscore, "_". However the underscore is a computer character in its own right and exists within the character set from which Service Labels may be formed. Furthermore, the underscore has been observed actually in use in Service Labels, e.g. PICCADILLY_KEY. Therefore, this site will use the convention that a space represents a space, and an underscore always represents an underscore. Please let me know if any listings here are at odds with this policy.

Please send information and observations to: carey@wohnort.demon.co.uk

Turkey

Wiesbaden Plan:
For DAB frequency-planning purposes, Turkey is divided into six "regions", each having a Band III and an L-band allocation. In Band III, the regions use, between them, Blocks 12A, 12B and 12C. In L-band, the regions use, between them, Blocks LA, LB, LC and LD. There is no completely "national" allocation.

United States of America

The Federal Communications Commission has selected the IBOC system from iBiquity for digital audio broadcasting in the MF and VHF bands. AM and FM stations may if they wish begin interim transmissions immediately subject to an announced notification procedure. However, IBOC is not permitted for MF at night-time owing to the potential for skywave interference. FM IBOC is approved for both daytime and nighttime broadcasting. During the interim period, the same programme content will be broadcast on both the analogue and digital components. In its announcement, the FCC noted that although the proposed approach requiring new spectrum in TV Channel 6 was no longer under consideration, it was not categorically ruling out such consideration in the future. Should new spectrum be identified, both IBOC and non-IBOC approaches may then be considered. For satellite radio broadcasting, various mutually-incompatible systems are in operation.

Vatican City

Wiesbaden Plan:
The Vatican City is allocated two blocks, 12D and LI, to cover an area of approx. 15 sq. km. The Plan specifies Mixed Polarisation.

I'd be grateful to receive information about other geographic areas.
